Cuya is a word from the Quecha language. Quecha is spoken in the high Andes by the Q’ero and other South American tribes. In Andean cosmology, as expressed by this culture, everything is alive … and everything has a spirit. The indigenous people around Cusco in Peru use special stones for cleaning and healing, establishing an energetic relationship with their cuyas. Such a stone travels with you, serving as friend, companion and messenger. Cuyas are alive with the spirit of relationship and love to play and work, sharing their unique properties. Cuyas also bring inspiration, direction, insight and often very clear instructions … “Keep us in the light; carry us with you on treks and in dreams; listen; let us work; let us play; bathe us in streams, rivers and oceans; place us in starlight and full moon magic; speak our names; share our stories.”
